Apple by the numbers – Q2 earnings

Even though investor speculation ran wild this morning and Apple stock took a slight dive, the Cupertino juggernaut’s numbers are simply astronomical. Apple released their Q2 earnings numbers this morning and here a few highlights:

  • $110 billion in cash reserves
  • $39.2 billion in revenue
  • $11.6 billion in net profit
  • $4.4B in revenue for Apple stores, with 85 million visitors
  • 11.8M iPads, 35.1M iPhones, 4M Macs, and 7.7M iPods sold in Q2
  • $1.8 billion sold in the iTunes store (music, movies, apps)
  • 1/2 of the Macs sold to first-time Mac owners
  • $7.9 billion sold in China, who is seeing astronomical growth

This impressive numbers are partly due to the success of the new iPad, to which Tim Cook, Apple CEO said;

“The new iPad is on fire, and we’re selling them as fast as we can make it.”
